We also take the approach
that the real answers lay within the grass roots where the power of positive change must be held in the hands of the people.
It is our children and our children’s’ children who will either reap the rewards of what we do today, or suffer
the consequences of the continued destruction that society as it is, is dependent upon in order to sustain an unsustainable
lifestyle, as well as ways of life that remain the roots of the problems we have inherited.
It is towards these ends that Eco Villages were conceived to start with and why so many exist in a myriad of forms
around the world today. This Eco Village is certainly no exception and based upon the experiences of it’s members as
well the extensive knowledge bank of other similar projects globally. We hope to incorporate the best of the tried and true
methods, while at the same time also learning what has not worked so that we do not repeat totally avoidable mistakes which
are by now well known.
With a combination of older and more experienced folks,
younger idealistic ones who are thankful for some guidance and bringing in creative and innovative ideas we have the potential
of co-creating our goals and dreams.
Much time was needed to find such an ideal
location for the Eco Village needs and it still being affordable in what was a market where skyrocketing prices made it cost
factors prohibitive. For what is essentially 3/4s of what an average one family home cost in such places a the U.S. and considerably
less expensive than most of Europe and other “first
world nations” we have found an exceeding beautiful location with many of the needs already met, or as in the case of
the main building being ready to complete at relatively minor costs.
Of course
the key factor is, as always, the human elements of the project and for this we wish to find those truly wishing to live in
peace with one another and the natural world around us. If that describes you then consider yourself a likely member who just
needs to meet their equal obligations to all other members. It is a cooperative effort where all parts will need to meet as
equals on all levels. Albeit each unique in their own ways, abilities and as free thinkers who understand that all other community
members are likewise so. Some key elements being that if we expect our rights we must respect the rights of others and that
each member deserves dignity.
